Madison Young Playwrights Program at Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey

I had a blast directing student work for last month's Madison Young Playwrights Program at Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey. I shared my thoughts in a guest post for the New Jersey Young Playwrights Blog:

Play Reading

It's time for the second round of readings for Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey's Emerging Women's Playwrights Project. The Frozen War will have a reading as part of the Arts on Division Festival in Somerville, NJ on Saturday May 19 at 7:00 pm. The script is a comedy set in a small Puerto Rican city. There are wacky high jinks, impossible dreams, and ice. Piragua...limber...lots of flavored ice.

Seventeen-year-old Alondra must face her fear of the unknown when she helps her mother start a homemade frozen treat business. Several obstacles threaten to foil the new venture—including a scheming flavored-shaved-ice vendor who believes his livelihood is on the line. Meanwhile, a hot skater boy dares Alondra to take her own risks, much to the chagrin of her mother.
