TAÍNAS UNIDAS is a group dedicated to the Hurricane Maria relief effort in restoring normalcy and providing support to those affected. We collect, transport and distribute items directly to those in need. We fundraise and work with local on-the-ground partners in affected areas to ensure efficient use of funds and support refugees who have been relocated due to the disaster. Founded by women in Newark, NJ - yet open to all - we emphasize grassroots partnership in relief efforts.
ACCEPTING: Monetary donations, large tarps, medical supplies, water purification tablets, life straws, heavy duty tape, markers, shrink wrap.

3/3, 8-10pm - En Pie De Lucha MIT Fest Jazz Ensemble Concert | Center for Puerto Rican Studies | Hunter College/Silberman School Auditorium (2180 3rd Ave, NYC)
$20 genera; $15 with student ID. Benefit concert featuring MIT's Festival Jazz Ensemble, Miguel Zenón and Evan Ziporyn. All proceeds go to the Puerto Rico Recovery Fund.
3/9, 6:30pm - Mi Casa Tu Casa | Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre | Oakes Center (120 Morris Ave, Summit)

Admission: FREE. Donations collected following the show will be donated to Tainas Unidas in Newark.

Experts in dialogue and conversation around the current state of affairs in Puerto Rico and the future challenges and opportunities in rebuilding the island following the devastation of Hurricane Maria in September 2017. Keynote speaker The Hon. Carmen Yulín Cruz Soto, mayor of San Juan.

Unveiling of a Puerto Rico-themed Wynwood Wall. Live music, food, drinks, and Puerto Rico Hope t-Shirts available for sale.
1/20, 6-9pm - Poets for Puerto Rico: Benefit Reading for Hurricane Relief | Bronx Museum of the Arts (1040 Grand Concourse, Bronx)
$20 donation. A benefit reading by #PoetsForPuertoRico to raise funds and continued awareness of the ongoing political and environmental devastation in Puerto Rico. Hosted by Willie Perdomo and Noel Quiñones. All proceeds will be sent to Puerto Rico by #PoetsForPuertoRico.
1/21, 7-9pm - Parents Who Rock Benefit for Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief | Bangz Salon & Wellness Spa (23 South Fullerton Ave, Montclair)
$50 admission. A night of Latin music to benefit Unidos of the Hispanic Federation - Disaster Relief and Recovery Program.
1/27, 6-12pm - 1Freedom and NYC - DSA Present: Pa'Lante | Crystal Ballroom at the Taino Towers (240 East 123st St, NYC)
$20 donation at door. Puerto Rican and Latinx music, voices, art, dance and words. All proceeds support Comité Azabache, which is providing those in need with supplies including solar lights, water filters and tarps to protect still-damaged homes from the elements.
12/14, 6-8pm & 12/15-12/16, 10-6pm - Holiday Pop-Up Shop | Lehmann Maupin (536 W 22nd St, NY, NY)
Lehmann Maupin, in partnership with Artspace, will host a holiday pop-up shop at its Chelsea gallery, featuring prints, unique works, artist books, posters, merchandise, and a selection of the gallery's anniversary editions. A portion of proceeds will benefit ConPRmetidos, an organization supporting those affected by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
12/17, 6-8pm - Aftermath | Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St, NY, NY)
A benefit reading of AFTERMATH written by #Pages4PuertoRico writers. All of proceeds go to Puerto Rico hurricane relief through the INDESTRUCTIBLE fundraising campaign.
11/13, 7-10pm - Artists United for Puerto Rico | The Physics Theater (Times Square Arts Center, 300 W43rd St, 5th Fl)
$20 admission. A One-Night-Only event benefiting Hurricane Relief efforts in Puerto Rico. Join us as a team of dedicated artists perform various pieces of music, poetry, and staged readings celebrating Puerto Rican culture and examining Latinx issues. 100% of the proceeds from the event will go toward hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico following the life-altering devastation left by Hurricane Maria. 11/16, 7-11pm - La Marqueta Retoña & Vive Boriken | Puerto Rico Fundraiser: The Diaspora Responds | La Fonda Boricua (169 E 106th St, NYC)
$75 (early bird rate until 11/9); $100 (after 11/9). Please join us for an evening of food, drinks, music and art to benefit three organizations that are on the ground in Puerto Rico helping those in need.
